We thought it over, and drew a conclusion (refletimos e chegamos a uma conclusão). The successful among us delay gratification (os bem-sucedidos entre nós adiam a gratificação). The successful among us bargain with the future (os bem-sucedidos entre nós barganham com o futuro). A great idea begins to emerge taking even more clearly articulated form in ever more clearly articulated stories (uma grande ideia começa a surgir assumindo uma forma ainda mais claramente articulada em histórias cada vez mais claramente articuladas). What's the difference between the successful and the unsuccessful? (qual é a diferença entre o bem-sucedido e o malsucedido?). If the world you're seeing is not the world you want, therefore, it's time to examine your values (se o mundo que você está vendo não é o mundo que você deseja, é hora de examinar seus valores). Rich people still divorce each other and alienate themselves from their children and suffer from existential angst and develop cancer and dementia and die alone and unloved (pessoas ricas ainda se divorciam e se alienam de seus filhos e sofrem de angústia existencial e desenvolvem câncer e demência e morrem sozinhas e sem amor). Recovering addicts cursed with money blow it all in a frenzy of snorting and drunkenness (viciados em recuperação amaldiçoados com dinheiro explodem tudo em um frenesi de bufar e embriaguez). And boredom weighs heavily on people who have nothing to do (e o tédio pesa muito nas pessoas que não têm nada para fazer). Aim up (mire para cima). Pay attention (preste atenção). Fix what you can fix (conserte o que você puder consertar). Don't be arrogant in your knowledge (não seja arrogante no seu conhecimento). Strive for humility, because totalitarian pride manifests itself in intolerance, oppression, torture and death (busque a humildade, pois o orgulho totalitário se manifesta na intolerância, opressão, tortura e morte). Become aware of your own insufficiency - your cowardice, malevolence, resentment and hatred (tome consciência de sua própria insuficiência - sua covardia, malevolência, ressentimento e ódio). Expedience is the following of blind impulse (a conveniência é o seguimento do impulso cego). It's short-term gain (é um ganho de curto prazo). It's narrow, and selfish (é estreito, e egoísta). It lies to get its way (mente para conseguir o que quer). It takes nothing into account (não leva nada em consideração). It's immature and irresponsible (é imaturo e irresponsável). Meaning happens when that dance has become so intense that all the horrors of the past, all the terrible struggle engaged in by all of life and all of humanity to that moment becomes a necessary and worthwhile part of the increasingly successful attempt to build something truly Mighty and Good (o significado acontece quando aquela dança se torna tão intensa que todos os horrores do passado, toda a terrível luta travada por toda a vida e toda a humanidade até aquele momento se torna uma parte necessária e valiosa da tentativa cada vez mais bem-sucedida de construir algo verdadeiramente poderoso e bom). Meaning is the ultimate balance between, on the one hand, the chaos of transformation and possibility, and on the other, the discipline of pristine order whose purpose is to produce out of the attendant chaos a new order that will be even more immaculate and capable of bringing forth a still more balanced and productive chaos and order (o significado é o equilíbrio final entre, por um lado, o caos da transformação e da possibilidade e, por outro, a disciplina da ordem primitiva, cujo propósito é produzir, a partir do caos que o acompanha, uma nova ordem que será ainda mais imaculada e capaz de trazer à tona um caos e ordem ainda mais equilibrados e produtivos). Meaning is the Way, the path of life more abundant, the place you live when you are guided by Love and speaking Truth and when nothing you want or could possibly want takes any precedent over precisely that (o significado é o Caminho, o caminho da vida mais abundante, o lugar em que você vive quando é guiado pelo Amor e falando a Verdade e quando nada do que você quer ou poderia querer tem precedente precisamente sobre isso). Do what is meaningful, not what is expedient (faça o que é significativo, não o que é conveniente). To identify what is meaningful, check if your heart feels good (para identificar o que é significativo, verifique se o seu coração se sente bem). When you do something that fills your heart you're doing something meaningful (quando você faz algo que preenche seu coração, você está fazendo algo significativo).
