Hello, my friend! How are you? If you're out of time or "in a rush", go to the last paragraph of this text for a fast answer.
In times of immediate responses and connection 24 hours a day, talking about long-term transformation is a risk! But… we believe you can (and must!) dream big, and make a daily effort to get better every day. This is our mission - seeing you speaking English and being a Leader wherever you go. "The 5 Essential People Skills" was written by Dale Carnegie and its goal is to improve your people skills. In other words, to improve your relationships at work and at home.
Last class we talked about 5 conversation tools to improve your communication at work. We're focused in delivering results and being effective. This class we'll talk about a further step you can take to reinforce the most relevant topics of this meeting or conversation you just had.
"If, in your judgment, a conversation has dealt with substantial issues, take the time to make a written record of what transpired and email it to the appropriate parties". Dale Carnegie says that with this follow-up seeds can be planted and new ideas and solutions might come up. But, why should we write something we've already discussed?
A written message. It's a way to clarify the significant ideas and "a way of quickly creating and circulating a reminder", as the author says. Carnegie says that your email can provide or ask for further clarification. "In other words, is this what we discussed and agreed upon?" Writing down your ideas, feelings, agreements and other topics may show you questions or omissions that were overlooked before. Comment here how you're feeling now. Why are you feeling this way? See you next class!
