Hello, my friend! How are you? If you're out of time or "in a rush", go to the last paragraph of this text for a fast answer.
In times of immediate responses and connection 24 hours a day, talking about long-term transformation is a risk! But… we believe you can (and must!) dream big, and make a daily effort to get better every day. This is our mission - seeing you speaking English and being a Leader wherever you go. "The 5 Essential People Skills" was written by Dale Carnegie and its goal is to improve your people skills. In other words, to improve your relationships at work and at home.
Let's start with the point everyone avoids: who's paying the bill? "In a time of tightened budgets, the sometimes significant costs of dining out can't be ignored", says Dale Carnegie. The author explains that you must make it clear if you're treating or sharing the bill. Once you've shown you're not (if you're paying stop reading this article now) the magnate of the group, follow Carnegie's advice:
1- Avoid haggling: expect to share the bill equally (even if you just drink water);
2- Don't skip tips: value people who serve you;
3- Ladies first: women should always be allowed to pick their seat of preference;
4- Silent mode: put your cell phone on silent mode.
Respect everyone, my friend. The valet driver, the hostess, the waiter, the cashier are human beings full of dreams, emotions and expectations. When you value them, you always have nicer experiences. How often do you talk to them? Comment here and see you next class!
